New Food & Culture Trip to visit Oaxaca, Mexico

Please join us in January for a new look at Oaxaca as we learn about its vibrant cuisine and explore its age-old culture. It is truly a unique city with great diversity of people and languages, and of course, excellent food.

The tour will run from January 15 to 23, 2025 and it will be led by Mimi Marchev who has led our previous trips to Mexico so capably. She has many years of experience leading educational tours in Oaxaca and seems to know everyone there.

Oaxaca is a special place, as is its cuisine, from the region’s seven types of Mole sauce down to its squash-blossom soup. Together we’ll explore traditional dishes, often found out in villages that surround the city of Oaxaca, while also eating at some of the fine restaurants that have given the city its worldwide reputation for food. And did I mention Mezcal?

We will also look at the politics of food in Oaxaca and how changes to the economy are effecting the way traditional ethnic groups grow and prepare food.

And the weather in January in Oaxaca is near perfect (and our hotel has a lovely pool).
